- David Moyes will be on talkSPORT panel for the 2026 World Cup.
- Everton play their last Premier League game against Tottenham.
- The Toffees are currently in 12th place in the Premier League.
David Moyes has got himself a new job for the summer. Everton’s manager will be part of talkSPORT’s World Cup coverage in the United States.
He joins a line-up that includes World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit, former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, ex‑Premier League manager Alan Pardew, former USA goalkeeper Brad Friedel, and referee Christina Unkel.
The announcement came from talkSPORT. “The current Everton boss has had a legendary managerial career spanning 28 years… now the proud Scotsman will be joining the team for our 2026 World Cup coverage. Welcome to the line-up, David.”
Liam Fisher, Head of talkSPORT, said: “This is the biggest World Cup in history, and talkSPORT is delivering an unbeatable mix of live commentary, expert analysis, and fan interaction, however you choose to tune in. It’s a monumental effort but we’ll deliver the World Cup home to the audience in the UK and beyond, even if Scotland and England don’t!”
A busy summer for David Moyes
The World Cup begins on 11 June when Mexico take on South Africa. The final is in New York on 19 July. England, meanwhile start their campaign on 17 June against Croatia in Dallas.
David Moyes will be in the studio, offering his analysis on the biggest tournament in football.
Moyes has over 750 appearances as a Premier League manager. His experience is vast. But the timing of this new role might raise eyebrows among Everton fans. The Toffees ended the season with no win in their last six games and missed out on European qualification. Many supporters would have preferred David Moyes to spend the summer dissecting what went wrong at Everton rather than analysing other teams on TV.
Should the focus be on Everton?
There is no question that David Moyes has earned the right to take on punditry work. He has been in management for nearly three decades. But Everton have just finished 12th after a collapse in the final weeks. The defensive issues, the failure to hold leads, the soft goals , all of that needs fixing before next season.
Moyes will have time. The World Cup ends on 19 July. Pre‑season starts soon after. But with transfer business to conduct and a squad to rebuild, every week counts. Some Evertonians may feel that the manager should be fully focused on Finch Farm, not on a microphone.
Still, the talkSPORT gig is a testament to Moyes’ standing in the game. He will bring genuine insight. And perhaps a break from the pressure of the touchline will do him good. But make no mistake: when he returns, the scrutiny will be intense. Everton cannot afford another season of what‑ifs. The summer is for fixing mistakes. Moyes needs to get it right.
