Former Premier League midfielder turned talkSPORT pundit Darren Ambrose believes that Everton can still push on and pick up points following their 2-0 defeat to Southampton.
The Toffees were condemned to defeat after first-half strikes from Saints captain James Ward-Prowse and striker Che Adams wrapped up all three points for the Saints.
One consolation for the Toffees is that they remain at the top of the Premier League, albeit only on goal difference. Current champions and local rivals Liverpool currently match their goal tally.
Despite the result, Darren Ambrose expressed that the mentality and desire exhibited by the Everton squad will determine whether their good run of from can continue.

Everton’s depth has suffered as of late; both Lucas Digne and Richarlison have faced suspensions following red-card offences over the Toffee’s last two fixtures.
Their woes have also been compounded with both Jonjoe Kenny and club captain Seamus Coleman out through injury, leaving a depth crisis at right-back. Consequentially, Ben Godfrey was forced to fill in out of position.

Ambrose was right to highlight the importance of depth in long-term success. Everton will have to get used to relying upon more peripheral members of their squad if they are to continue their good fortunes.
Squad availability will rarely be in an ideal state at any fixed moment in time, and so making the best of the present situation is the only matter within Everton’s control.
To allow the loss of key players to affect Everton’s drive to continue is an act of self-harm for Ancelotti’s side, though there is no concrete evidence this is the case.
The Toffees will look to make the best of their situation as they look to resume winning ways – and have proven with previous displays that they are capable of doing so.
