International Break’s done. Thank God. It’s shambolic, isn’t it? Just a week and a bit of dreadful football filled with initial hope and subsequent spite after England do exactly what everyone besides the English thought they’d do and be absolutely bang average. Nothing to really get excited about regarding Everton either, so it seemed to […]
This is where we find most of Everton’s strength, usually in the dominant midfield partnership of the wise Gareth Barry and the ever-revered Idrissa Gana Gueye. Both play drastically different games, however, so it’s time to see which you value most. The workhorse, engine-like style of Mo Besic and Idrissa Gueye, or the slow, tactical […]
So, we’ve had attackers, it’s time to go all the way back and sort out the big man at the back. This one is a bit easier, considering we only have 3 fully-fledged senior Centre-halves, so I’ll include a youth player in there as well. Does the reportedly unsettled Ramiro Funes Mori get your vote? […]
A slight twist on the format this time as we pit the best current attackers at the club against each other. Now, this would be too easy (Sadly) if I only classed strikers as attackers, so I’m going to use Wingers as well. Does the wonder of Kevin Mirallas win you over, or is it the brutal, relentless […]
In the first of a series of Everton’s Greatest, let’s kick it off by voting on the greatest. Just who is the greatest to don the Royal Blue? Let’s pit the greatest of goalscorers against the greatest of Defenders as you can settle an ever-present debate around any Football Club. From Dixie Dean and Alex Young to […]
Are we all immune to this again yet? Anyway, Crystal Palace arrived after winning their three last games, as Everton slumped to two shocking defeats. In hindsight, we were probably never going to win tonight but we all have our Blue-Tinted Spectacles on, so let’s leave hindsight. We were stunning in the opening minutes, as […]
After a week of major disappointment last week, it’s time to re-focus for our first Friday-night game of the season. It feels like we’re being a bit spoiled with ‘night’ games, whereas usually the special ones were reserved for a cup Quarter or Semi final, or a crucial midweek tie against one of the elite […]
I think we’re all over last week by now. No? Well, you’ll get there. We’ve had worse weeks, some in recent, disgustingly vivid memories. Lest we forget the meltdown at Anfield and Wembley, in the space of a few days that all but sealed Bobby’s fate as our boss. We came out the better for it, […]
A bit of Déjà vu this one, wasn’t it. A carbon copy of the Norwich game, but this time, possibly more frustrating. We started a very strong eleven, minus Leighton Baines who missed out from a knock. Another injury concern was Gareth Barry, who was taken off just after half time for Tom Cleverley. The […]
A disappointing Tuesday Night, wasn’t it? We’re out of that cup now, so it’s time to redirect our focus back to the league as we travel to the south coast to play Bournemouth. Many will remember last year’s affair, as Barkley netted the winner deep into added time, but then, in true Martinez style, Barkley’s […]
Ross Barkley, for the last three years, has been the most divisive Everton player. You either see it or you don’t with Ross. This shows as there seems to be an even split in the Gwladys between the two vices. There’s no denying that he’s giving everything for the club, he’s a supporter at the […]
Well. That wasn’t ideal, was it? On a night where many of us were marching to Goodison riding on the cloud of Koeman’s apparent invulnerability, we’re all coming away shocked. The problem ran all through the team tonight, from Koeman to Valencia as not one player put in an exceptional performance. The team was sluggish […]
