Chelsea improves bid for Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea have put in a bid of 80 million euros for Everton star Romelu Lukaku, according to Gazetta Dello Sport journalist Ivan Zazzaroni.

The reporter took to Twitter to say that Chelsea have offered 80 million euros, which equates to around £67.5 million, to bring the Belgian striker back to London. He describes it as madness.

Just last Friday it was reported that Everton had rejected a £57 million bid for Lukaku, and that the Toffees are holding out for a massive £75 million.

The new bid would make Lukaku’s move back to Chelsea the most expensive transfer to a Premier League club of all time, the current record being Angel Di Maria’s £59.7 million move to Manchester United in 2014.

The striker has spent the last three seasons at Everton, after being on loan to West Brom from Chelsea for the 2012/13 season. He has made 127 appearances overall for the side, scoring 61 goals. Lukaku scored 18 times last year in the Premier League.
