There was a strong possibility of the Everton summer signing going out on loan to the Italian club but this move broke down following talks between the club and the player’s representatives.
He has also been thought to have had interest shown in him from Lazio but this move has failed to materialize on deadline day.
The Dutchman has had a slow start to his Toffees career playing on just eleven occasions which, after coming in as part of abig summer move, will have been very disappointing for him.
He is now prepared to fight for his place in the team for the remainder of the season.
