Everton could land Gray upgrade with Hirving Lozano

Everton may have only won one of their seven Premier League games so far this season, but Frank Lampard’s side have not struggled to create chances.

Specifically, only seven other clubs have made more shot-creating actions than the Toffees (128).

One figure that has been a prominent presence in the team so far is Demarai Gray, who has started all seven league games for the Merseyside club and found the net on one occasion.

Despite Lampard’s clear appreciation for the Englishman, the Toffees boss could have the opportunity to bring in a potential upgrade on the winger.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Everton are one of the clubs interested in signing Napoli winger Hirving Lozano.

With 349 club appearances to his name, the 27-year-old has scored 109 goals and delivered 68 assists along the way, highlighting the experience he has and how much of an attacking threat he can be.

It also backs up why the attacker, who was reportedly available for £35m over the summer, has been described as a “goal machine” by journalist Cesar Hernandez.

In terms of being an upgrade on Gray, the duo’s previous domestic campaigns showed why Lozano would be a solid signing for Everton.

Despite playing over 700 fewer minutes than the Everton figure, the Napoli star still managed to score the same number of goals as him (5) and even provide one more assist as well.

As well as that, the Mexican also managed to rack up a higher percentage of shots on target (37.3% vs 23.1%) than Gray, in addition to a higher rate of successful dribbles (62.5% vs 54.7%).

Lozano also totalled a higher percentage of aerial duels won than the Everton winger (37.9% vs 10.2%) as well, showing how useful he can be without the ball at his feet.

Hailed as an “entertaining” player to watch by Statman Dave on Twitter, the winger could be a very exciting addition to Lampard’s squad and certainly give Gray some competition for the right-wing place in the team.
