Everton eying move for William Carvalho

Everton are set to make a move for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho according to reports in both England and Portugal.

Both publications in England and Record in Portugal have reported Everton’s interest in the current Portugal international as new Everton manager Ronald Koeman looks set to bolster his options in midfield.

Koeman may look to the Portuguese destroyer as a long-term replacement for the aging Gareth Barry as he enters into the last year of his current deal.

A stumbling block may arise in a supposed €45 million release clause for the defensive midfielder, but with new majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, the Toffee’s are looking to make up ground on their Premier League rivals after two subpar years under Roberto Martinez’s management.

The 24-year-old has been earned rave reviews for some of his performances during Euro 2016 and has also been linked to moves to Manchester United and Arsenal in recent times.
