Everton: Journalist drops Mykhaylo Mudryk claim

Everton showed during the previous summer transfer window how capable they are of splashing the cash to bring new players to Goodison Park.

One player that the Toffees weren’t able to sign during this period is Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Last month, it was reported that the Merseyside club had an offer of €30m (£26m) rejected by the Ukrainian club for their attacking star.

In terms of potentially seeing Everton make a move for the winger in the upcoming January transfer window, journalist, Pete O’Rourke had this to say on the matter.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, O’Rourke said:

“It would be a huge signing of intent from Everton because I think you’re probably talking £50million-plus for Mudryk right now.

“He has been rated as good as Kylian Mbappe, so he is a super talent and I think he’s only going to get better and better.”

This season has seen the 21-year-old winger score two goals and provide six assists in seven appearances across the Ukrainian domestic league and the Champions League.

To further highlight how impressive he has been this season, Mudryk’s performances in the three Champions League games he’s appeared in have earned him an overall rating of 7.16/10 from WhoScored, making him the highest-rated outfield player at Shakhtar to play in the tournament.

Taking what O’Rourke has said into account, it seems as though it could cost Everton significantly more than what they initially offered Shakhtar for Mudryk in the summer.

Despite this potential financial hurdle, making an investment to sign the Shakhtar star could be the best deal that Kevin Thelwell makes for Everton given his young age and the clear attacking talent he’s shown this season.

Moving forward, if a January transfer move for Mudryk is financially viable for the Toffees, this is something they should definitely consider doing.
