Everton have enquired about a Bournemouth midfielder, though the move remains at an early stage.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Everton have opened initial talks with the player’s side regarding a potential deal for Marcus Tavernier. Jacobs reports there has been no official approach to Bournemouth as things stand, with contact so far limited to gauging the 27-year-old’s own position.
Tavernier has established himself as a regular for the Cherries since arriving from Middlesbrough in 2022, operating primarily from the left but capable across the attacking midfield positions. His versatility would fit the type of player David Moyes has prioritised as he looks to add depth to his squad ahead of the new season.
Should Everton move to formalise interest, Bournemouth’s valuation and Tavernier’s contract situation — he signed fresh terms in September 2025, with the deal running to 2029 — are likely to dictate how straightforward any negotiation proves.
The Cherries have already shown a willingness to resist approaches for the player, having previously fended off interest from elsewhere in the Premier League.
For now, this sits as an enquiry rather than anything concrete, and Everton’s limited wider business this window suggests competition for resources elsewhere in the squad. It’s one to monitor rather than to get excited about (something I’ve written a lot over the last two months).
