Everton out to end six years of misery at Tottenham

Everton Tottenham

Everton travel to Tottenham on Saturday looking for only their second Premier League win there in 18 attempts.

The Toffees’ last 17 league visits to Spurs have produced just one victory, four draws and 12 defeats.

That win came in September 2020, when Dominic Calvert-Lewin headed home Lucas Digne’s free-kick to give Carlo Ancelotti’s side a 1-0 victory behind closed doors.

Six years on, it remains Everton’s most recent league win at Tottenham.

The five visits since have all ended in defeat. Spurs have scored 14 goals across those games, with Everton managing just one.

Last season brought another blank. João Palhinha scored the only goal as Tottenham won 1-0 on the final day, following their 3-0 victory at the Hill Dickinson earlier in the campaign.

Saturday does at least find Everton in better form. Moyes’ side are unbeaten after their opening three Premier League games, taking five points, while Spurs are yet to win or score in the league.

But the record in this particular corner of north London is horrible.

Five straight defeats. One win since 2009.

Time to change it.
