Everton are thinking of offering a deal to former Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Vlaar is currently recovering from a bad knee injury and has been a free agent since turning down a new deal at Villa Park in the summer.
He has been attracting interest from a number of clubs, with Italian giants AC and Inter Milan said to be interested in his services, as well as Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord.
But the Netherlands international wants to stay in England, and preferably the Premier League.
With Phil Jagielka injured for a substantial period of time Everton are contemplating an offer for Vlaar, who was a huge part of his homeland’s third place finish in the Brazil World Cup.
The Merseysiders were reported to have offered the former Villa man help in his recuperation frominjury during the summer and are now interested in the Dutchman’s services, as he would provide solid competition at the heart of defence.
