Everton targeting cut-price deal for Moussa Sissoko

According to Calciomercato, Everton remain interested in making a move for Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko in January.

The Toffees thought they’d snapped up the midfielder on transfer deadline when they agreed a £30m deal with Newcastle for his transfer, only for Tottenham to swoop in late and persuade Sissoko to move to North London.

Since receiving a three-game suspension for an elbow on Bournemouth’s Harry Arter on October 22nd, Sissoko hasn’t featured in the Premier League in any capacity and was left out of Spurs’ last two squads.

He’s failed to score or assist in his 10 appearances for Tottenham this season and has largely been a flop signing, falling out of favour with Mauricio Pochettino.

Serie A pair Juventus and Inter Milan are also said to be monitoring Sissoko’s situation ahead of the January window, along with Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla.

Pochettino has spoken out about Sissoko, stating that your transfer fee shouldn’t guarantee you a spot in the team.

“Football is not a matter of money, but every player must always prove to be better than his teammates,” Pochettino stated.

“I think that whoever was involved against Chelsea last weekend deserved to take part to the game. Sissoko must work hard and prove to deserve to be part of this squad.”

Should Tottenham be looking to part ways with the French international, Everton are one of several teams who would be interested in a deal.
