Jordan Pickford’s Crystal Palace save earns another award

Jordan Pickford

Everton confirmed on 3 October 2026 that Jordan Pickford has won the Premier League’s Save of the Month award for August. It is the latest individual honour for the Everton goalkeeper, confirmed by the club itself. He claimed the prize for a sharp reaction save he produced during Everton’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

How Pickford won the award

Pickford produced the decisive save that won him the award during Everton’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson Stadium. It was a reaction save. The stop stood out from every one made across the Premier League that month, and it was that single piece of goalkeeping, rather than his form across the whole month, that earned Pickford the award.

Why the August award matters

This latest award carries extra weight because it is Pickford’s fifth Save of the Month prize since the Premier League introduced the category back in the 2022/23 season. No goalkeeper has won it more often than Pickford since the award began. Four seasons on from the award’s launch, that tally makes Pickford its most successful winner, a record that reflects the consistency between the posts that Everton supporters have come to expect from their goalkeeper.

What Save of the Month means for Pickford

Save of the Month recognises one outstanding save from a single match, rather than a body of work built up across an entire season. For Pickford, winning it for a fifth time confirms that his instinctive stop against Crystal Palace was judged the single best save produced anywhere in the division that August. No other goalkeeper has matched that feat since the award began. Everton’s confirmation of the award cements his place as the category’s most successful winner since it began in 2022/23.

What happens next

The award simply recognises one outstanding save in one match. That has been the Premier League’s approach to Save of the Month since the category was introduced, and the same standard applied on each of the four previous occasions when Pickford won the prize.

The Premier League will keep reviewing one outstanding save from across the division every month under that same approach. Supporters can read more about the award-winning save itself in our original report on the win over Palace.
