New Everton star issue delights young fans with one-word social media post

New Everton star Andros Townsend has brought delight to two young Evertonians through his reaction to their scoring antics on social media.

Taking to Twitter, two young fans re-enacted the goals from Everton’s 3-1 comeback win against Burnley on Monday in their back garden, fully donned in Everton kit.

They tagged the three scorers from the night (Michael Keane, Demarai Gray and Townsend) and probably did not expect a response from any of the players – but Townsend duly delivered.

In a Tweet with several thousand likes, Townsend retweeted the footage of their back garden goals and commented ‘amazing’, accompanying his response with a clapping emoji.

The post was sure to make the day of the young fans who will surely be delighted to receive such a positive response from Townsend.

Such a positive gesture from the player will go down well with the fanbase who could quickly see Townsend as a new fan favourite following his free transfer from Crystal Palace.

The 30-year-old 13-cap England international has already managed to score two goals and add as many assists in all competitions for the Blues this season and is quickly having an impact under Rafa Benitez, who Townsend briefly worked with at Newcastle.

He is swiftly proving to be a shrewd acquisition offering superb value for money, and his social media activity proves his authenticity and kindness off the pitch.

It’s a fine testament to his character.
