One man’s display for Everton earns him plenty of praise around the football world

Another game, another Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal. It is an all-too-familiar sight for football fans – much to the jubilation of the Toffees.

Once again Ancelotti’s preferred hitman struck, this time against local rivals and Premier League champions Liverpool.

The talismanic figure for the Toffees scored from a Lucas Digne cross with a towering header, capping off a dynamic display with a much-deserved goal.

The Sheffield-born striker has now impressively managed to score 10 goals in 7 games this season, including two formidable hattricks against West Bromwich Albion in the league and West Ham in the Carabao Cup.

The rising Everton star was recently awarded his first England cap against Wales, rewarding his selection choice with a goal in a fine overall offensive display. The call-up was unsurprising considering his prolific scoring form and his offensive versatility.

Interestingly, his equaliser during the 2-2 draw at Goodison Park meant that he became the first player to score in each of Everton’s first five league games in a season since Tommy Lawton in 1938-39.

Everton, who remain top of the Premier League with 13 points, narrowly eclipse their neighbours in 3rd with 10 points. Everton have yet to record a victory over their rivals in the last 10 years of contestation between the two sides.

Which is why it wasn’t just Everton fans that were quick to heap praise and have their say over their star striker’s performance…
