Theo Walcott completes £20million Everton move

Everton have completed their second major signing of the January transfer window with the arrival of Theo Walcott from Arsenal for a reported £20million.

The Toffees failed to adequately replace Romelu Lukaku in the summer and have followed up the £27million acquisition of Cenk Tosun from Besiktas with the England international forward.

Walcott scored 108 goals in 397 games for the Gunners in 12 years at the club following a £9.5million move from Southampton in January 2006 but had fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates.

The 28-year-old had failed to start a single Premier League game this season for Arsenal and with talk of both Bordeaux’s Malcom and Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang of Dortmund arriving this month, Walcott was always likely to leave.

Everton have reportedly agreed to match Walcott’s £140,000-a-week Arsenal wages in order to convince him to make the move to Goodison Park as Sam Allardyce’s revamped attack begins to take shape.
