Reported Everton transfer target Sami Khedira has dropped a major bombshell over his future in quotes which may be indicative of an increasing possibility of the midfielder making a Merseyside switch.
The German 2014 World Cup winner is a notable exclusion from any of Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo’s eligible squads and is firmly tipped to leave the Serie A giants.
His contract expires in the summer, meaning he can sign a pre-contract agreement on a free transfer with any non-Italian club from January onwards, though he will be a free agent in the summer if no agreement is reached.
Everton have previously been linked with a bargain swoop for the 33-year-old who has extensive experience playing under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti.
Reports from BILD via SportWitness in Germany have since touted the Toffees as the frontrunners for Khedira’s signature, with Khedira himself confirming contact with potential suitors.
“These are just two of the many interesting clubs [with regards to Spurs and Everton links].
“I’ve always kept in touch with both of them, even in the last few weeks.
However, Khedira did not lock himself into a move to the Premier League.
“We phoned and wrote. They know my situation. But it could end up being a completely different club. Even outside of England.
“If someone convinces me with their concept, it could also become a club that you don’t even have in mind.”

There is rarely smoke without fire, and the smoke emanating from the Khedira rumours are stifling.
It is highly likely that the Toffees are interested, and the latest reports only confirm that the Khedira story is truly one to watch.
Ancelotti may well be in line for a reunion as a former stalwart of his mentorship returns to play for the Italian in the twilight of his career.
