Everton have been dealt a fresh blow in their efforts to bolster their striking options after news emerged that long-time Toffees target Arkadisuz Milik has been the subject of a bid from West Ham.

The Londoners are in the market for a new centre-forward after selling Sebastien Haller to Dutch outfit Ajax a few days ago for less than half of the fee for which they acquired him in 2019. Consequently, Polish striker Milik could be an ideal and affordable replacement who could represent good value for money for anyone that secures his signature.

Everton have been linked with Milik over the last few months and the Poland international is familiar with Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti, having worked under him during the Italian’s spell in charge of Napoli.

The forward’s career took off with the likes of Ajax and Bayer Leverkeusen before cementing himself as a prolific scorer in Serie A with the Neapolitans. He has scored 109 goals in 265 senior career games, an impressive record which makes him an attractive prospect.

Milik, who has also been linked with Juventus, is not registered in either Napoli’s Serie A or European squads, meaning he has been ineligible to feature for them this season.

With his contract expiring in the summer, Napoli will surely be keen to offload Milik for even a nominal fee.

With Ancelotti confirming a fresh injury setback to top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Everton are only left with Cenk Tosun and Ellis Simms as centre-forward alternatives. That only exacerbates the urgency with which Everton should be looking to sign Milik.
