Lewis Dobbin could miss rest of the season through injury

Everton seem to have lost 18-year-old prospect Lewis Dobbin for the rest of the season to injury, with the youngster possibly set for surgery.

The striker suffered serious knee damage after a nasty collision during a training session at the club’s Finch Farm training facility yesterday. Detroit personal injury law firm helps with getting the proper compensation to treat your injury.

According to the Liverpool Echo, internal sources fear that the player could be out for as long as four months – essentially curtailing the young hitman’s season.

However, Everton medical officials are not yet certain that the player will need to undergo surgical treatment despite the player’s fears, although the possibility has not been ruled out.

Initially featuring for the Toffees’ under-18s squad, Dobbin has been promoted to David Unsworth’s under-23s group, having impressed at a lower level.

The teenager has scored twice and provided two further assists in just seven appearances at under-18 level this season, attracting enough attention to see him get a look-in at a higher age group.

Dobbin signed his first professional contract with the Toffees a year ago and is contracted at Goodison Park until 2022.

There is rarely much good which can come from serious injury, and there will undoubtedly be a degree of anxiety at Everton surrounding Dobbin’s situation.

Amid the loss of Dominic Calvert-Lewin to injury, youngster Ellis Simms was recently promoted to first team plans.

It may be that Carlo Ancelotti increasingly looks to youth to fill gaps in his squad, and losing Dobbin further down the age groups could have knock-on effects if a centre-forward injury crisis were to emerge at first team level.
