Everton winger Bernard has issued a cryptic hint suggesting that he could be exiting the club imminently.

The Brazilian commented on a social media post from left-back Lucas Digne, who recently celebrated his 28th birthday.

The ex-Barcelona defender, who boasts almost 2 million followers on Instagram, saw the left-sided winger wishing him well – whilst also seemingly confirming his exit from the club.

“HB my bro,” the winger wrote to his teammate. “I always will wish you and your family the best in your life. I love you, and I’ll miss the 1, 2 ♥️”

With the 1,2 nodding to training drills and linking up on the left side in matches, the heartfelt message is tinged with a sense of a last goodbye.

As has been reported by the Liverpool Echo, Everton have bene attempting to engineer a Bernard exit for some time as they look to cash in on the ex-Shakhtar Donetsk man.

He almost joined United Arab Emirates side Al Nassr in January, with teams in Greece, Russia and the UAE having since expressed an interest in Bernard during this current window.

Bernard made just two starts in the Premier League last season and struggled to hold down a role of any importance under Carlo Ancelotti.

Arriving as a free agent in 2018, Bernard is one of the club’s highest earners despite his rotational, bit-part role at Goodison Park.

Given that Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the arrival of Demarai Gray, it seems that the club has already lined up a replacement with Bernard more than aware his time with the Toffees looks to be limited.

Bernard looks like a likely departure as a result, given the redundant squad role he will likely be set to play.

Shaving his wages off the club’s books and commanding a healthy transfer fee in the process will go a long way in preventing the club from falling on the wrong side of Financial Fair Play rules, maintaining the financial health of the club in the process.
