Everton widen right-back search as Wan-Bissaka emerges as most advanced target

The Everton hunt for a new right-back is intensifying, with David Moyes weighing up four options as he looks to solve a problem position for the Toffees; one that was a make-do situation for much of last season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is understood to be the most advanced of Everton’s targets. West Ham, relegated to the Championship, have set an asking price in the £15-20m range, having initially been prepared to let the 28-year-old go for around £10m.

Moyes worked alongside sources close to Wan-Bissaka during his own time at West Ham, a connection Everton believe could help accelerate a deal. Sunderland, Newcastle, Fulham and Turkey’s Fenerbahçe are also credited with interest.

Raoul Bellanova remains firmly in the picture too. Atalanta are willing to sell the Italy international, with a fee in the region of €20m mooted, though Tottenham and Nottingham Forest retain an interest of their own.

Tottenham’s Djed Spence and Strasbourg’s Guéla Doué complete Everton’s shortlist. Doué, valued at around £40m, is regarded as the most difficult of the four to land on cost alone.

The position has been a priority since Seamus Coleman’s departure at the end of his contract, with Nathan Patterson also expected to move on and Jake O’Brien, a natural centre-back, having covered at right-back for most of last season.
