  • Abdul Fatawu posted a cryptic Instagram post thanking Leicester fans.
  • The winger has scored 9 goals this campaign for Leicester.
  • Everton interested, while Sunderland and Leeds are also monitoring Fatawu.

Everton are plotting summer reinforcements on the flanks, with David Moyes likely to need fresh wide options regardless of whether Jack Grealish returns.

According to Football Insider, the Toffees have joined Sunderland and Leeds United in the race to sign a £20m‑rated Leicester City winger, Abdul Fatawu.

Fatawu’s recent social media activity has been interpreted as a goodbye to the Foxes, opening the door for a Premier League return.

The 25‑year‑old wide man has been one of Leicester’s few bright spots in a difficult Championship campaign. Despite the club’s struggles, he has recorded nine goals and seven assists in 44 appearances. His Expected Goals (xG) of 5.00 suggest he has overperformed in front of goal, while his Expected Assists (xA) of 6.31 indicate consistent creativity.

‘Appreciate all the support’, a farewell message?

Following Leicester’s disappointing season, Abdul Fatawu posted an emotional message on social media. He wrote: “Appreciate all the support from the beginning of the season till today, Foxes. Is disappointing to finish the season at this level in all this was not what we work for and over all was not good enough. This our club is an amazing and deserved more than the position we are today, and I believe this club will come back stronger to where it belongs.”

The message has been widely seen as a potential goodbye. Football Insider reports that the player wants to join a Premier League club this summer, and Everton are keen to secure his signature.

How Abdul Fatawu would fit at Everton

Abdul Fatawu is a left‑footed winger who prefers to play on the right, cutting inside onto his stronger foot. He has eight goals with his left foot and just one with his right, highlighting how he likes to cut inside.

For Everton, Fatawu would add direct, unpredictable wing play. With Jack Grealish’s future uncertain and Tyrique George likely returning to Chelsea, Moyes needs a wide player who can both create and score. Fatawu’s numbers show he can do both.

Leicester value him at around £20m, a significant sum but not unreasonable for a player with proven Championship quality and Premier League potential. Everton’s European ambitions if realised, would make them an attractive destination.

Fatawu’s farewell message suggests he is ready to move on. Everton should be ready to welcome him.

matchday.
