Burnham crossed the threshold of Downing Street following an audience with King Charles at Buckingham Palace, succeeding Keir Starmer, who tendered his resignation earlier in the day. The transition marks a swift return to frontline national politics for the politician, who re-entered Westminster as an MP at last month’s Makerfield by-election.
In a public statement, Everton highlighted the new Prime Minister’s deep-rooted ties to the club, his regular attendance at matches, and his extensive history of social campaigning on Merseyside.
