Blues still working on no.10 signing

Everton are still searching for a number 10 after failing to revive Andriy Yarmolenko deal over the weekend, according to the Echo‘s Phil Kirkbride.

The article reveals that the Blues attempted to revive the Yarmolenko deal over the weekend but still found it difficult to find a compromise. Roberto Martinez has been chasing the attacker throughout this month and it was believed at one point that a deal had been struck for the Ukrainian. This was not to be the case and the Dynamo Kyiv star looks set to stay in Ukraine until at least January.

The Echo goes on to explain that Everton are still working hard to bring Aaron Lennon and a no.10 into the club today. Martinez has been banging the same drum about a creative midfielder for the majority of the summer, but has found completing a deal for one more difficult than first anticipated. Although the Echo report that Everton are pursuing a no.10, they do admit that at this stage it would most likely be a loan move.

Jonathan De Guzman had been linked with a move to Bournemouth this week but the deal fell through after the player was not keen on the move. The Dutchman had been linked with the Blues a week prior. Could he be the man that manager Roberto Martinez turns to?
