Jose Mourinho attended Ukraine’s European Championship qualification match against Spain on Monday night and could make a move for Andriy Yarmolenko, according to MailOnline.
Yarmolenko played the full 90 minutes as they were defeated 1-0 by the Spaniards and is available on a pre-contract in January as his contracts runs out in the summer. According to the report, the forward has been recommended to Roman Abramovich and the possibility of playing in London, as well as in the Champions League could see the 25-year old’s head turn to Stamford Bridge.
Everton attempted to sign Yarmolenko in the summer but were told that their approach was too late in the window, and the club would not be able to find a suitable replacement in time for their Champions League campaign.
Dynamo owner Ihor Surkis suggested after the summer window had closed that if Kyiv were knocked out of the Champions League by January, Yarmolenko could move in the winter. If not, it could be likely that he will sign for a club on a Bosman at the end of the season.
The Ukrainian had hired respected agent Vadim Shabily to try and aid his move, and posted a picture of himself at Goodison Park earlier this month. This gives a clear indication that the clubs are at the very least still in communication over a deal.
With Chelsea now in the running for Yarmolenko, Everton clearly have their work cut out if they want to re-open negotiations, but one way or another, Yarmolenko’s future will be clearer come January.
