Fans lament Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury

Many Everton fans were devastated to hear that the club’s top scorer Dominic Calvert-Lewin has suffered a hamstring injury and will be absent for an unspecified length of time.

With 11 goals to his name in the Premier League this season, the 23-year-old has been crucial to the Toffees’ attacking threat and has helped them to pick up vital points as Ancelotti’s side look to challenge for a European spot.

The club confirmed that Calvert-Lewin would miss the clash with Wolves prior to the game, prompting fears that Everton’s results would suffer markedly as a result.

No formal timeframe has been offered for Calvert-Lewin’s return, although Ancelotti eased fears of any long-term absence by expressing his confidence that the player would return to action ‘soon’.

Richarlison is also a minor injury doubt and was assessed during Monday’s training session at Everton’s Finch Farm facility.

Ancelotti spoke on the issue ahead of the Wolves clash in his pre-Wolves press conference as he said:

(Calvert-Lewin) had a little problem in the week before the game against West Ham. But because he had not had this type of injury before he was not able to judge it for himself.

He played all of the game against West Ham so this shows that it is really not a big injury but we want to keep him safe and when he comes back, to be 100 per cent.

These Everton fans took to Twitter as they expressed their dismay at the news of Calvert-Lewin’s injury…
