Everton to hold talks with Napoli over Koulibaly

Everton will hold midweek talks with Napoli representatives for the Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Gianluca Di Marzio

The Napoli man previously played in Belgium for Racing Genk, and is a regular for the Senegalese National team, previously being a French U21 international.

Chelsea are also interested in the defender, who has been rumoured to be making the switch to the Premier League for a number of years now, after impressing over a period of 2 years. Koulibaly has made 60 appearances for Napoli and 6 appearances for the Senegal national team.

It is thought that the player may be a replacement for John Stones, who has been overwhelmingly linked to the new look Manchester City side, with Pep Guardiola at the helm. According to reports in Italy, the tabled offer from Everton is £38m, which would be the most a Premier League club has paid for a defender – which would only incidentally be behind John Stones’ transfer if he made the switch to City.

Ronald Koeman may be assessing his squad this week, as they jet off to Austria for a training camp, and he may look to be making additions before the Blues open their season on August 13th.
