Everton make offer for Swiss Defender

Everton have made a bid “between 7 and 8 million euros” for Leo Lacroix, a defender who plays for Swiss side Sion, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Previously linked with Stoke City and AC Milan, the Swiss-born 24-year-old has played for Sion since 2010 and made 29 appearances in all competitions this past season. The recent appointment of Ronald Koeman has reportedly put Everton in the driver’s seat to acquire the player.

Lacroix does have experience playing against Premier League competition with Sion, as they took on Liverpool in this past season’s Europa League group stage. The two games ended in 0-0 and 1-1 draws.

The 6 foot 5-inch center back clearly has a clear presence in any back he operates in and would be a welcome addition to a back line that struggled at times last season. While he has not yet played in the senior team at the international level, Lacroix has made 3 appearances for the Swiss Under-21s.
