Should Everton Renew Their Interest In Yacine Brahimi?

Everton winger Yannick Bolasie is set to be out for around a year, so Ronald Koeman should work hard in January to bring fresh faces into his squad.

Players like Demarai Gray, Memphis Depay and Ashley Young have been tipped to replace Bolasie, but a man who was on Everton’s radar in the summer could also fill the void left by the Congolese international.

Yacine Brahimi was a transfer target for Everton in the last transfer window. They had even made a £35million bid for the 26-year old Algerian winger but it was rejected.

Brahimi has made a total of 11 appearances for Porto this season, scoring two goals and assisting once.

His performances have been pretty good, but not as good as last season where he made 44 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing 10 assists.

One of his most impressive performances this season came when Porto played against Leicester City in a Champions League match last Thursday. He tore Leicester’s defence apart and his hard work paid off in the 44th minute when he scored an impressive backheel goal to make it 3-0 for Porto.

Brahimi is a winger with blistering pace and impressive ball control and agility, he also has an eye for creating chances and is a skilful dribbler, too.

Brahimi could be available for around £29million-£35million if Everton are to make a move for him in January. Brahimi has also been linked with a move to Leicester City, where he could play with fellow countrymen Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani.

If Everton were to sign Brahimi, they may have to wait until February to see him strut his stuff at Goodison Park. The former Paris Saint-Germain youth starlet will almost certainly be selected by Algeria for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

With Everton in dire need of immediate reinforcements, are they able to play the waiting game for Brahimi?

matchday.
