Everton set to battle West Ham over Lyon winger

UPDATE: Everton are said to test Lyon with a €13m (£11.3m) offer for the winger, which according to Le 10 Sport could be enough to seal a deal.

Everton are looking to sign Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal, according to the Daily Mail.

The Algerian currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 and was regarded as one of the Leagues best wingers last season.

The 24-year-old scored eight goals last year and with the departure of Steven Pienaar and with Aiden McGeady and Oumar Niasse likely to join him Ronald Koeman is looking to strengthen his attack.

Ghezzal predominantly plays on the right side of attack and is rated £4.68million on Transfermarkt.

With the sale of John Stones to Manchester City, Everton’s transfer business seems to be hotting up with Ashley Williams likely to sign later this afternoon and Lamine Kone is also being pursued by the club.

The Toffees are looking to build on what was a disappointing season last year under Roberto Martinez, with Farhad Moshiri bringing in Steve Walsh to aid with transfer dealings.

Names such as Axel Witsel, Juan Mata and William Carvalho continue to be linked with the Merseysiders though  Ghezzal could be the next name through the door.
