On a quiet deadline day for the blues, one deal has seemingly been the main talking point for Evertonians; that of Oumar Niasse. After a few days of speculation, Everton now looks set to complete the signing of Oumar Niasse for £13.5m from Lokomotiv Moscow.
The 6ft 2inch Senegalese striker has been identified as the man to ease the burden on Romelu Lukaku and add some much-needed firepower to this lacklustre Everton squad by Roberto Martinez.
Niasse signed for Lokomotiv Moscow for €5.5 in July 2014 and has since scored 19 goals in 42 games, as well as winning the 2014/15 Russian player of the season. He has been described as a very strong and fast striker, with an incredible work ethic. He can also play on the wing, which means he could be a very valuable asset for Martinez’ side as he could fill a void on the left wing which has not really been cemented by Mirallas/Koné/Osman.
Despite the inevitable excitement, Artur Petrosyan, a Russian journalist, has been very critical of Niasse, even suggesting that he isn’t an upgrade on Arouna Koné. You can view his tweets on Niasse here:
