Various reports suggest that Everton have been in contact with Borussia Dortmund over a move for Jakub Blaszczykowski.
The Blues have been in the market for creativity in the final third of the pitch to provide much needed ammunition to star striker Romelu Lukaku. The winger has yet to feature this season and has fallen out of favour with Thomas Tuchel. After missing out on number one target Andriy Yarmolenko, Roberto Martinez has been scouring the market for a player of the same ilk. The Poland international, 29, has been plagued with injury problems and even tore his abductor muscle during pre-season.
This will not be the first time ‘Kuba’ has been linked to the Merseysiders either. During the 2012 European Championships, the winger was heavily linked with a switch to England and Everton in particular, but this ended up not being the case.
Now, it seems as though Blaszczykowski is looking for a new challenge and Everton seem to be willing to give him that. Transfermarkt have the player’s value at £7m.
Last season Blaszczykowski only started 9 games for Dortmund and got himself 2 assists, but was not able to find the net. Should Everton sign the player there is no doubt that it is a gamble due to his recent injury record. However, should the player recapture the form seen in past seasons he will be a welcome addition to the side. In the 2012/13 season Kuba scored 16 goals and racked up 14 assists in 40 starts for the German giants.
