Former Everton defender Michael Ball has sensationally slated Everton’s ‘big six’ rivals over the now-defunct plans for a European Super League – and reiterated Moshiri’s vision for the club.
Writing in his column for the Liverpool Echo, the ex-Toffees man reminded fans that Moshiri ‘knows he will not get overnight success’ at Everton and that ‘he is here for the long-run’.
Ball also claimed that although Moshiri wants ‘a return on his money’, he feels the Everton owner ‘has shown a lot of class in going about it the right way’ in a reign that has seen significant investment in the club.
More recently under Moshiri, the Toffees’ owner has overseen the approval of a £500 million project to relocate the club to the proposed Bramley-Moore Dock stadium that would represent an increase in capacity to 52,888.
On top of that, the summer transfer window represented another period of direct investment in the squad in Everton’s endeavours to climb into European football.
Indeed, European football was precisely the other focus of Ball’s claims as he outlined the maleficence that the breakaway Premier League sides have shown in recent days.
Ball claimed that ‘the Super League is all about greed’ and that the project ‘is laughable’, with the breakaway clubs ‘showing they have no class’, before damningly claiming that their ‘owners are so out of touch’.
Although the ESL looks to be on the brink of formal collapse as more and more clubs pull out, Ball claimed previously that the rebel clubs should be banished from the league.

Moshiri has recently joined the chorus of sporting voices opposing the plans, and Ball’s upfront remarks ring true for an owner that spoke so openly in defence of the principles of British football.
Given the fast-changing state of the ESL, debate is unlikely to die down as to whether the climbing-down clubs deserve punishment beyond the existing humiliation they are enduring.
Regardless, Ball serves as a ferocious mouthpiece for the condemners of the plan, laying bare the issues with the proposal.
