Ronald Koeman not certain on Ross Barkley’s Everton future

Everton’s Ross Barkley only has one year left on his current contract and could be on his way out of the club he has been at for just over 12 years.

Ross Barkley has grown up with Everton in his blood and it’s always sad to see a local lad leave his boyhood club. He hasn’t had the best of times under Ronald Koeman who has told him he will be leaving in the summer if he doesn’t sign a contract in the upcoming weeks.

With Everton qualifying for the Europa League it might be wise for Barkley to stay at Goodison Park as Koeman will need squad depth and Barkley, recently valued at £50m by his boyhood club could be key in this sense.

When asked about Barkley’s future, Ronald Koeman was quoted as saying by the BBC: “I spoke to the player, the board spoke to his agent. I don’t know if he won’t give an answer. I don’t know.”

There seems to be a bit of uncertainty and miscommunication between the manager, the board and the player in question. We’re again seeing a young English player who has been influenced and over hyped by the media. There was a lot of expectancy of him, not just with Everton but for the England national set up as well.

Whatever happens in Ross Barkley’s future he will always be Everton through and through.

matchday.
