Simon Jordan hits back at David Moyes over Everton ownership comments

Simon Jordan has rejected David Moyes’ suggestion that Everton‘s summer transfer business may have provided an indication that The Friedkin Group were preparing to sell the club.

Moyes said he was surprised by TFG’s decision to explore a potential sale, although the Everton manager suggested he perhaps should have recognised signs of what was coming after the closing stages of the transfer window.

Former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan disagreed with Moyes’ assessment during a discussion on talkSPORT.

Jordan dismisses Moyes’ Everton claim

“What a load of rubbish,” Jordan said. “He doesn’t know what’s going on, any more than anyone else did. What, because they didn’t give him exactly what he wanted, that’s his logic? ‘I didn’t get what I wanted so I knew they were going to sell’.”

TFG completed their takeover of Everton in December 2024 but confirmed last week that they were exploring new investment options, including the potential sale of their controlling interest in the club.

Moelis has been appointed to advise on the process. Moyes has since spoken about what he wants from any future owner, while admitting the ownership situation could create uncertainty.

Everton are back in Premier League action on Saturday when Chelsea visit Hill Dickinson Stadium.
