Virals: Andros Townsend Expresses Evertonian Pride

New Everton signing Andros Townsend has taken to social media to express his pride at being an Evertonian following his first run-out with the Blues in pre-season.

The winger, who joined as a free agent earlier this month, featured for the first forty-five minutes in Everton’s pre-season win in the Florida Cup against Colombian side Millonarios.

Taking to Twitter, the former England international shared several snaps from the game, including both the squad photo and several combative highlights.

The winger impressed in his Florida cameo and almost kicked off his Everton career with a memorable moment of supreme skill.

With Everton a goal down in the first half, Townsend was inches away from levelling the scoreline.

Forty minutes in, the winger pounced on a loose ball before curling a sumptuous effort towards goal that rattled the crossbar.

Club-released videos have showcased similar shots in training that coolly find the back of the net.

Townsend, 30, most recently featured for fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace where he managed a goal and five assists in the league last season.

Townsend’s drive to make an instant impression on the squad is a fine testament to his attitude and workmanship.

Noted for his link-up play with target man Christian Benteke at Palace, Everton fans will be hoping for a similar impact at Goodison Park.
