Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has issued a nine-word update on Everton and their reported interest in Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
According to a previous report from Spanish news outlet Fichajes, as shared on Twitter by The Toffee Blues (@EvertonNewsFeed), claimed earlier last week that Everton had made enquiries over the availability of the ex-Liverpool playmaker.
The report, as covered by the Liverpool Echo [live transfer blog, 2/7/2021, 11:53am] also claimed that any Everton deal would likely come in the form of an initial loan deal – with the Toffees inserting an option-to-buy clause into any deal.
However, the latest update from Romano has poured cold water on the rumours.
As shared by The Toffee Blues, Romano denied any interest from Rafa Benitez’ side as he spoke on his official Twitch channel.

Despite being spotted smiling and engaging with a fan as he attended training on Monday morning, James Rodriguez appears unsettled at Everton – hence the potential for Everton to be in the market for a playmaker.
Much like Rodriguez, Coutinho would inject experience and a proven record of goal contributions.
SportWitness has claimed that Coutinho will be available in a cut-price deal as Barcelona – embroiled in a financial crisis – look to free up €200 million off their wage bill.
In that view, it is a shame that Everton’s interest is far from confirmed.
Although his Liverpool past renders him as a controversial choice, his tally of 54 goals and 45 assists in the Premier League renders him an option as proven as he is formidable.
