Virals: Journalist confirms Everton youngster to head out on loan

Everton have reportedly agreed a deal to loan out Welsh youngster Nathan Broadhead to League One side Sunderland on loan for the season.

That is according to a Tweet from sports journalist Pete O’Rourke (@SportsPeteO), who took to Twitter to share the update on the Everton youngster.

Separately, reports from the Echo have corroborated the claim and has declared that a deal could be formally wrapped up within the next forty-eight hours following O’Rourke’s tweet on Monday.

Sunderland boss Lee Johnson is believed to have identified a number of different attacking targets in recent weeks, but the Black Cats’ attention has firmly shifted with Broadhead now standing as the club’s number one target.

The 23-year-old Wales youth international recently penned fresh terms with Everton and appears destined to test himself at a higher level on a regular basis.

He made his first-team competitive debut in the Blues’ 3-0 Europa League group stage win over Apollon Limassol back in December 2017 but has struggled for regular games ever since.

However, he did make his Premier League debut in last season’s 0-0 away draw against south coast Sussex side Brighton as a substitute.

A Sunderland move represents the perfect litmus test for the Bangor-born attacker to test his ability in a competitive domestic league.

Having penned fresh two-year terms, questions may be raised as to why a fringe player was still being regarded as a prospect when he could be as old as 25 around the expiry of his deal.

However, a Sunderland loan could provide a platform to rehabilitate the youngster in the eyes of his Everton overseers – if his spell can prove to be productive.
