Virals: Podcaster Jokes Davy Klaassen Return to Unite Everton

Everton podcaster Matt Jones of The Blue Room has joked about one way in which the club could re-unite the fans.

Following confirmation of former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez as the club’s manager, the appointment only confirmed the divided nature of Evertonians.

When news of his impending appointment accelerated, offensive banners targeting the new Toffees tactician were unfurled outside Goodison Park.

With a separate and more nefarious incident seeing a threatening banner hung up close to Benitez’ family home, many Evertonians are clearly disgusted by the reality of Benitez’ appointment.

Indeed, even a cursory glance at the comments section on the club’s official announcement on Twitter reveals the scale of the bafflement and uneasiness the appointment has caused – though there has been a positive update.

An insider look at the Spaniard’s appointment by The Athletic revealed that Marcel Brands was not seen in any of the announcement content due to the fact that he is isolating following a business trip to the Netherlands.

It is stated that the trip was with the purpose of making a transfer enquiry for a transfer target, which has been speculated by one fan podcast, The Unholy Trinity, to be heavily-linked defender Denzel Dumfries.

In response, Matt Jones joked that the target could in fact be another Dutchman in ex-Toffee Davy Klaassen, who currently plays for Eredivisie title-holders Ajax.

Taking to Twitter, Jones claimed ‘think it’s clear who will get the fans back onside…’, attaching an image of a jubilant-looking Klaassen in Ajax’s kit.
