Virals: Everton to Battle for Jeremie Boga

Everton are interested in signing right-winger Jeremie Boga from Serie A side Sassuolo but face heavy interest both from domestic clubs and non-English sides.

Crystal Palace, Leeds and Atalanta are all rivalling the Blues for the ex-Chelsea player, with the latter having seen a £15.5 million bid turned down by their Serie A rivals.

Taking to Twitter, Crystal Palace news account CPFC Transfers HQ (@CPFCtransfersHQ) shared the article from the Daily Mail that covers the race for the Ivory Coast international’s signature.

Atalanta are believed to be considering making an improved offer for the 24-year-old, with Sassuolo rejecting a £30 million offer from Napoli last summer.

Rennes equally saw a much smaller proposal – £17.5 million – turned down by the Neroverdi.

Suitors appear keen to exploit the rising winger’s contractual situation.

He has two years on his existing deal, with the club recently activating an option to extend his deal by a further twelve months in order to prevent him from entering the final year of his pre-existing terms.

With Rafa Benitez typically preferring a 4-2-3-1 formation, having an established right-winger is key for Everton.

Alex Iwobi has struggled to justify his £27 million transfer cost in terms of end product, whilst the likes of James Rodriguez and Richarlison are not natural right-sided options.

The club has concluded a deal to sign Andros Townsend in an attempt to add experience and a natural right-winger, though further depth could be required.

Boga fits the bill: able to play on either flank, he has scored 18 goals and 7 assists in 90 appearances.
