We were going to come unstuck with this brand of football eventually and unfortunately, it happened in the two games that were our best chance of 6 points in a long time. Two hilariously negative lineups in those games meant that instead of the expected six points, we came away with two. That simply isn’t […]
The last time out against Bournemouth was when Oumar Niasse cemented cult-hero status with two goals from the bench to save the game, further prolonging Ronald Koeman’s stay at Everton for just a little while longer. While there is a positive and negative there, it was overall a good day as it was only our […]
(That picture makes me very sad. I think about them every day.) We’re turning corners rapidly and this game represents a real opportunity for us to cement ourselves as contenders up there again. We struggled like crazy (I could probably use that as my season summary, couldn’t I?) at the start of the season to win away […]
In a display that was probably both an Evertonian’s nightmare and a defensive coach’s dream, Sam Allardyce once again managed to cause murder amongst a set of fans that believe they are entitled to beat everyone as they pass them by with a pat on the back and a smile. But when you’re coming to […]
It’s this fixture that always makes me remember my favourite ever Goodison night (I haven’t got that much to look back on, yet) which was the 2-0 win over Chelsea in the 15/16 FA Cup. Lukaku netted twice and his first was one of the best goals I’ve ever seen, never mind just Everton goals […]
These victories are becoming quite the regularity, aren’t they? As Rooney did say in his post match interview, we really would have lost that after going 1-0 down a few weeks ago. But it was a testament to the Allardyce regime that the fight was there and we came back and won the game convincingly […]
It’s been a good month on the blue half of the city but now is where the real graft begins.7 games in less than a month, 4 of which being against some of the ‘Big Six’, mean that Allardyce is going to prove whether he has a proper future at Everton beyond this 18 month […]
A tricky away game at St James’ Park faced us at the start of the week before we could return to home comforts come the 18th. And we got through it very much unscathed with yet another clean sheet and excellent defensive outing. All of the back four – Jonjoe Kenny, Ashley Williams, Mason Holgate […]
We go into the game after winning the Anfield derby 1-1. Or as some Reds would have it, as Everton lifted the World Cup. We still haven’t won an away game since January in the league and everyone seems to be hammering home that point. However, we’re a revitalised team and those poor results, all […]
It’s that wonderful time of the year again where the Christmas lights come out and everyone is feeling festive. However after we’re done with it, we all start to feel down and depressed, as though there’s an emptiness. No, not Christmas, but the Merseyside Derby. Except this year we’re all aided by the fact that […]
Nothing much to really see here. We went to Apollon under no illusions that it was a dead rubber and we played very much like it was. We took the mick at times during the game and coasted home beyond a 15 minute period either side of the half where Joel Robles made a few […]
We’re out of Europe and we’re taking a load of kids so, like Everton, I’ll take this one easy. I’ll write a few words – mostly positive – on the game and then preview the team I’d throw out at the end. Anyway, it’s an opportunity to blood some kids and to get some out-of-favour […]
