Leicester have today rejected the formal approach by Everton to recruit Steve Walsh, Leicester’s Assistant Manager and Scout, to become the new Director of Football at Goodison, according to the Mail Online.
Everton have been openly trying to recruit a new man to top operations at Finch Farm this summer but have seen many attempts fall short.
Steve Walsh is credited with the recruitment and development of both Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, who both lit up the Premier League in blistering style last season, and the Blues wanted Walsh to lead the search for the next hidden gems and for him to work alongside new boss Ronald Koeman, who has welcomed the opportunity for a Director of Football to be appointed.

It appears however Walsh would be open to the move to Everton, and wished to engage in talks. Any formal approach was swiftly shut down by Leicester, however.
Leicester, while appearing resolute at the minute, may be willing to reopen talks, provided with hefty compensation. And it would not be the first time Everton would have dealt with the obstacle of compensation this summer, as talks to appoint incoming boss Ronald Koeman were stalled considerably as the package for compensation was sorted between the clubs.
Everton may, however, explore other options, as Sevilla’s Monchi and Ajax’s Marc Overmars had previously been linked with a move to Goodison.
