Everton have entered negotiations to sign Lucas Perez as Ronald Koeman looks to round out his first transfer window as the Blues’ boss by bolstering his thinly-veiled attack, according to the Telegraph.
Steve Walsh – who joined Everton as Director of Football shortly after Koeman was appointed as part of a revolution in Everton’s foundations – watched Perez as he was scouting for Leicester and he has been on his radar ever since, and he is attempting to secure his signature for his new employers.
Perez, who has recently been called up to the Spanish squad after a string of phenomenal performances in La Liga, netted 17 goals last season for Deportivo La Coruña, where he received tremendous acclaim due to his deadly finishing and blistering pace.
Everton hope to negotiate a price of around £15m with the Spanish side before the window closes, as Koeman has publicly said that he needs at least 4 new players at Goodison.
After the acquisition of Yannick Bolasie for £25m last week in a record deal for the Toffees, the Dutchman said the striker position is one he needs to strengthen before the Deadline on the 1st September.
