Jose Mourinho confirmed yesterday that Juan Mata has a place in his squad at Old Trafford as he denies claims that the Spaniard is being forced out of the club.
Mata, who has been heavily linked with a move to Everton since the window has opened, looks as though he indeed does have a future at United, although many reports claim otherwise and cite a rift formed at former club Chelsea between the two. A similar situation occurred and resulted in the player’s move to Moyes’ United back in 2014, although the Manchester United manager has rubbished these claims.
‘I never told Mata to leave. I never pressed the club to sell him.’

He knows that I know he is a good player and he has space in the squad. Until August 31 the market is open for every one of my players that is not happy, but to be fair I think he is [happy].
Some reports even claimed that Mata’s move to Goodison was all but done (Oh, where have we heard that before) but appears now to be seriously in doubt.
Koeman, who is looking to strengthen the squad after a barren period in the transfer window, has been eyeing up a myriad of midfielders. Axel Witsel was also heavily and persistently linked with a move, but that also appears to have crumbled while more recently, Moussa Sissoko is being touted to join up with the Blues in a reported £35m deal from Newcastle, after the 26-year old impressed at Euro 2016.
