On Monday night, David Unsworth’s side traveled to play Reading to keep up their title bid. They initially trailed 2-0 after a quickfire double from Andrija Novakovich, but an inspired Oumar Niasse netted a 20-minute Hat-trick to bring his side into half-time with a 3-2 lead.
In the second half, Kieran Dowell, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Liam Walsh all contributed with goals as Unsy’s side stormed to a 6-3 win.
After Niasse’s honest interview with The Guardian last week in which he detailed his struggle at Everton, and his wish to still break into the first-team and fulfill his Premier League dream with Everton.
He has kept his head down and continued to graft for the U23 side and has impressed David Unsworth and Everton fans alike, netting 5 goals in as many games where he leads the young front-line.
Niasse continues to dominate while Arouna Koné and Enner Valencia struggle to impress in the first-team setup.
Although Koeman has said he has no plans to re-introduce Niasse to the first-team fold again – and has repeatedly asked him to leave – the Senegalese outcast may give him some food for thought.
Does he deserve another chance, Blues? Did Koeman speak too soon?
